Exposure Visit
Girls Club members visited St Monica’s Girls Boarding School in Chipata, one of Eastern Province’s top boarding schools. For many, their first experience of both a large boarding school and an urban setting. The visit brought future opportunities to life, helping girls see how attainable secondary education can be and motivating them to strengthen their academic performance. During the tour, they explored the facilities, met current students, and gained insight into boarding school life, including structured study timetables and the value of self-discipline. A highlight of the visit was hearing from Mapalo, a former Girls Club member from Mfuwe, who shared how the programme built her confidence and how exposure visits like this expanded her sense of what was possible. Mapalo’s story shows what is possible when at-risk girls receive the academic, social and emotional support they need: in 2025, 100% of the graduating Girls Club cohort progressed to secondary school.
