Student Sponsorship

Memory

Memory (18 years old) comes from a family of eight and lives with his mother and seven siblings. His father died in 2019, leaving his mother to provide for the family through subsistence farming. He joined the Student Sponsorship Programme in 2023 and is the first member of his family to reach this level of education, marking an important milestone for his household. From the outset, Memory has demonstrated his academic commitment. At the end of Grade 9 (junior secondary school), he achieved the highest result in his intake, scoring 84% (equivalent to an A in the American grading system). Transitioning into a more demanding secondary environment required adjustment, yet he remained focused and consistent. Memory has continued to be a high achiever throughout his secondary school journey. In 2025, he maintained a consistent academic average of 79% in his first year of senior high school. As the first member of his family to progress through secondary education, Memory is changing what feels possible for his family. His academic success highlights the importance of continued support and stable learning environments in enabling students from rural and low-income backgrounds to compete academically alongside their urban peers.
